Speedy & Healthy Weight Loss Made Easy

October 29th, 2010

Spot reduction in weight through a weight loss diet is a myth. In fact it is almost impossible difficult to find a diet plan which reduces your weight overnight!! Weight loss depends on a lot of physical factors besides diet which vary from individual to individual. When looking at weight loss, most of us would want it to happen the healthy way and certainly not the starvation way!

One of the other myths that people have is that starving can help you lose weight. Well, this in fact has the reverse effect. When the body is deprived of food for a longer period of time, the metabolic rate and the fat burning process reduces. This in effect results in fat deposits and accumulation and ultimately we end up gaining weight rather than shed.

One of the healthy ways to lose weight is to follow a “Calorie Shift” diet plan. This plan involves having a variety of foods which is balanced in nutrition. Have a different meal and vary the intake of proteins, carbohydrates and fats everyday so you will not feel the pinch of being on a diet plan. Meal time will in fact be a “Fun Time” and you will look forward to the meals. Unknowingly, the “Calorie Shift” diet plan will work wonders on your metabolic system and ensure a faster burnout of the calories. With the calorie Shift plan, the metabolism is in a constant “high burning” mode as it keeps getting constant fuel for the burnout.

In today’s fast paced times and busy schedules, it may not be possible for us to work out regularly or have meals as per the diet plans. In meeting deadlines and balancing home, work and social commitments we often tend to neglect our body. However that does not mean that we cannot lose weight. A few easy checks can help us keep the metabolism working continuously which will take care of our calorie count.

•    5 small meals – 3 large meals
•    Regular eating habits – Avoid late night snacks
•    Sleep 3 hours after dinner – Avoid sleep immediately post meal
•    Balanced diet – Cut intake of carbohydrates

If you are looking at a perfect and healthy diet, consider the following arithmetic:

•    Addition (+) of lots and lots of fruits with green and leafy vegetables leads to Multiplication (X) of the metabolic rate

•    Subtraction (-) of chicken, fish and egg to some extent leads to Division (÷) of fatty food and accelerates the metabolic rate

If you are not so inclined to do all the work necessary for your own proper meal planning, no matter what diet plan you are on; then you should consider an all inclusive type of diet plan which includes nutritious, tasty meals delivered right to your front door. Find reviews on some of the more popular complete diet and meal plans at Smart Diets.

Nokia N96 – Successor of a Successful Phone

October 29th, 2010

The Nokia N96 as everyone knows is the successor of the most successful Nokia mobile phones ever the N95. Being a descendent of a great phone there was a large amount of expectation from the Nokia N96. Unfortunately the Nokia N96 couldn’t keep up the glory of its predecessor.

The time when Nokia Mobile Phones released Nokia N95, it was the giant in the market, and there wasn’t any potential threat to Nokia N95 in design, features or performance but now the things are totally different. The N96 uses Dual ARM 9 264 MHZ CPU which is a slower than that of N95’s CPU. There doesn’t seem to be any valid reason for this downgrade, though on second thoughts it looks like it was done to improve battery life but the battery life is worse than that of N95. No to worry too much the mediocre battery and the CPU don’t affect the performance of the phone. The user interface is very smooth, quick and just maybe some very demanding application or game can show the difference between the performance of the two mobile phones.

The design of N96 has been inherited from the Nokia N81 and is very attractive; the build quality however is not up to the standard of a high end mobile phone. The cheaper plastic employed in Nokia N96 is susceptible to scratches.

The form factor of N96 is dual slide i.e. you can move the top slider either way up and down; pushing the panel upwards will reveal the numeric keypad and pushing it down will reveal the 4 dedicated keys used for music and games.

As far as memory is concerned the Nokia N96 is excellent. It has a large internal memory of 16GB and provides room for further expansion using a micro SD memory card. In short, you can extend the memory of N96 to 32GB. The 2.8 inches screen of N96 is marvellous; It is brilliant even under direct sunlight, no complaints from display section too.

The inbuilt 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens camera complemented by powerful dual LED flash captures superb pictures producing a far better quality than the pictures taken by other phones boasting a 5 mega pixel camera. The pictures are excellent in all lighting conditions, this camera can capture even moving objects with great precession. However, the capture button can be difficult to press but it isn’t a major problem.

The Nokia N96 Mobile comes with a good DVB – H tuner, enabling it to receive digital TV broadcasts. Moving on to one of the main entertainment functions of the Nokia N96 – the mp3 play, which does not disappoint with excellent all around sound quality. The loud speakers are placed on the right side, top and bottom of the phone. In landscape mode you can use the kickstand to place the phone on the desk at the best angle for watching TV / video. The loudspeakers will now be on the top left and right of the phone giving a feel of mini television, looks very attractive.

The N96 wasn’t really intended to take the market by storm and turn the world around. Maybe it was meant to quietly update the top multimedia gadget of the house. Almost every phone manufacturer has a good range of mobiles that can challenge Nokia N96 and most of them have Touchscreen, mp3 players and video playback functions. Nokia is not yet concentrating on Touchscreen which is the latest trend in mobile world. Moreover Nokia N96 has a heavy price tag compared to other mobiles with similar functionalities however the Nokia N96 has a great software package that comes in an utterly user-unfriendly shell.

Compare the best deals on Nokia N96 and other Nokia contract phones and Nokia pay as you go phones at ThePhoneNetwork.co.uk

Eight Ways to Add Value to Your Home

October 29th, 2010

“Two story brick traditional with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, island kitchen, and large deck!” Sound familiar? We often talk about houses in terms of room count, along with a list of finishes, such as tile floors, granite counters, or faux paint. While this vocabulary conveys certain facts, it does not provide the tools to think about how to re-design a house in a fabulous way.

It is valuable to be able to make the decisions that transform a poor design into a house that is memorable, enduring, and widely appealing. To do this we need to go deeper than simply updating finishes or increasing square footage. We must think about how the structure shapes the feelings and experience of its inhabitants. In the words of Winston Churchill, “We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us.” When a house has design flaws, we know intuitively that it does not feel right. On the other hand, a well designed house can make us feel inspired, enriched, and touched by a sense of order.

We often see houses that have some elements in the structure and site that appeal to us, but cannot be lived in without remodeling. Often our clients say that they want to find a house with good bones (meaning good basic design), that they can update. The truth is that most houses have some good design and some bad design. Painting walls and updating fixtures will not cover bad design. You will need to think about the house in a deeper way. Use these design processes to help you make the difficult decisions that will result in a house that many people would love to live in.

1. Relate the house to the site.

Think about how the house integrates and interacts with the land around it. This awareness is a basic, but often ignored, beginning. The connection and interplay between interior and exterior spaces enhances both in a powerful way.

Manage the views from each window. Is there an undesirable view into a neighbor’s home or yard? Is there a nice view that is blocked by a wall or fireplace?

Notice how the walkway leads to the street, where privacy is needed, where noise buffering is needed, how drainage will work.

A side area could be a private garden, accessible from the main bedroom. A front porch overlooking the street could bring the house into a relationship with the neighborhood.

2. Bring in natural light.

Houses can be transformed by adding windows and other light sources. Generous light feels safe and uplifting, and attracts people toward it.

Natural light raises the level of importance and the beauty of rooms. Light all main rooms from two sides, if possible, to reduce glare and balance the light. Use glass doors, windows, skylights, transoms, or light tunnels.

Keep passive solar techniques in mind as you add windows and shading devices. The control of solar energy for light and heat is fundamental for an efficient and comfortable home.

3. Break down hard barriers between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Glass doors, screens, and walls that slide open can create semi-transparent walls, forming indoor/outdoor spaces that have enormous appeal.

Breezeways, garden rooms, bay windows, and screened porches are spaces that people love. These bring people into contact with the outdoors, yet may be furnished in a comfortable way.

4. Think of outdoor spaces as large rooms.

When all areas of the site are thought of as living spaces, new ideas open up. These outdoor spaces expand the house by creating a sense of semi-enclosure in various ways.

Their edges can be defined by trees, fences, wings of the house or other buildings. For example, an outdoor room may be a shady natural space on the site enclosed by a line of trees and shrubs.

Outdoor living spaces can be courtyards, walled gardens, trellis covered breezeways, stone patios, or outdoor showers. Think about their use and connectedness to the house.

Often, we see an exterior space that is built as an isolated destination place – a second floor deck, for example. If you have to make an effort to go there, the space will not be used. Outdoor spaces are most used when they are on paths used by people coming and going. This is why a front porch is a very appealing design element. People naturally meet here, and the porch connects with neighbors walking by.

A popular outdoor living area is the backyard deck. This is often seems to be an afterthought, tacked onto the house. Can it be covered and screened?

5. Consider widening roof overhangs or adding propped shutters over windows.

This is a green building technique in warm climates, blocking solar penetration.

The view of the outside roof structure seen from inside the house evokes a sense of shelter and protection.

If possible, extend the roof in some areas to create covered porches or breezeways. Rooms that are simultaneously open and protected are very appealing.

Inside the house, exposed rafters, rustic beams, or wood surfaces on the ceiling create feelings of strength and character in the home.

6. Review traffic flow – a crucial, but often ignored, design element.

Walk down the paths that bring you inside the front door, then lead you to various rooms through the house, and again to the outdoors. Do they cut through the middle of living areas? When this happens the living area will never feel complete and comfortable.

Circulation paths should lead along the edges of main rooms, and efficiently to private rooms. A maze like floorplan creates a sense of wasted energy and confusion. Few exterior doors may result in a subtle feeling of being trapped.

Bring multiple uses to hallways and connecting spaces with bookshelves, windows or window seats.

Set apart the main entrance with details such as a covered place to stand, special doors, benches, or potted plants.

7. Compare the sizes of rooms in proportion to each other.

People have an intuitive sense of the correct hierarchy of spaces. Small living spaces will seem wrong when combined with large bedrooms.

Homes with awkward design can often be improved by removing walls to make one large space from several smaller ones.

Consider the use and function of each room. Is the room to be used privately, such as a bedroom, study, or library? Or, will the family gather here to cook and eat informally? Some houses include formal areas, others do not. Some have many rooms, others are very open. There is no right or wrong decision here. Houses that have a true and intuitive appeal have a clarity as to the function of each room.

8. Choose materials as an integral part of the design – not as decorator selections made at the end.

For example, structural materials can be exposed, or flooring can be used to connect and unify spaces.

Bring in the beauty and texture of natural materials. Use materials that offset each other – warm and cool colors, rough and smooth textures, solid and delicate walls.

Use materials to connect the house to the site – for example, a wood clad house surrounded by woods, or a stone house next to outcroppings of stone. Or, connect the house to the neighborhood with historic colors and siding.

Repeat materials and colors to unify the interior and exterior.

Enjoying Backyard Space

October 29th, 2010

Your yard is intended to be enjoyed by you and your family. And, how you and your family choose to do this is entirely a personal preference. So, take a minute to think about your family as well as your immediate circumstances and establish how you can get the most out of your yard.

Think about your family plan when you are planning for your backyard. Do you have kids now? If not, do you intend on having kids one day? If so, this will alter what landscaping additions you pick. If you are going to have kids, you’ll want to select grasses, shrubs and flowers that will adjust to the increased amounts of traffic that kids produce.

When developing a kid-friendly landscape, you’ll also want to go ahead and pick a spot for any play equipment that you may want. You can go ahead and get that area ready now by planting a durable kind of grass. You’ll also want to get any unlevel surfaces taken care of. Additionally, think about adding trees that are already mature so that you will have shade sooner. Maintain any shade trees that you already have or add shade-making foliage to the area. After you have chosen your play area, you can now begin designing the other areas of your yard.

If your family consists of just you and one other person, you will want to consider several important issues when you decide how to design your yard. Do you love to work in your yard? Are you physically capable of doing so, and do you think you will be for many years to come? If the answers to these questions are yes, then now is the time to create the yard of your dreams. Go ahead and get all of the plants and flowers you have always wished for.

On the other hand, if your idea of a “dream yard” has always been that of one that is made up of only a condensed area of grass to cut (and the smaller the better, in your opinion), and the rest of the yard bursting with plants intended to attract birds, butterflies and some of nature’s smaller inhabitants, buy brightly colored flora and create your own oasis in your backyard.

If you live in an area of the country that lends itself to outdoor entertaining and living for all but two or at the most three months out of the year, and this is what you like or are now able to do, then turn your yard into that “outdoor living area” you’ve always wanted. Construct that gazebo or covered entertaining and dining spot, or do whatever you want to enjoy your yard!

Pollution Control is Easy Using the Right Wind Power Design

October 21st, 2010

With a basic wind power design, you should be able to produce sufficient power for running all of your domestic electrical components. When you use your personal wind power, you will be able to start saving your earnings as well as the environment side by side. Nowadays you can find websites that provide plans to design and construct a wind mill that is simple with basic supplies from most hardware stores. Some supplies may have to be purchased from an electric supply shop, but these things are typically found without much difficulty.

Generating Your Own Wind Power Can Help You Benefit By Saving Quite A Bit Of Money

Keeping in mind that most people pay nothing less than $150 monthly on electrical power, this totals up to a little short of 50,000 dollars in about twenty five years. When you capitalize on wind power, you will offset the cost of the construction of the wind mill. Take into consideration the lessening of carbon levels if every single person exploited wind power for homes as well as for their offices. Even if only twenty three people built and used a wind turbine, the combined savings could potentially reach way more than one million dollars in 25 years.

Opting For A Wind Generator at Home Provides You With Free Power

Once you pay for your wind power construction details and all the other necessities, you are finished with paying for power every month. There are no mandatory fees, no grid to hook up too and the most exciting news is that there is no power company that is waiting to collect any kind of fees. Just about the only charges that you will need to bear would be towards occasional repairs and regular maintenance as your turbine ages.

Which Wind Power Design Is The Best?

The vast range of wind power designs that are available can be intimidating for most individuals. However, you are sure to soon see basically there are just 2 types wind mills or wind turbines, as they are widely known as. What you will get are large turbines that produce an average of 2000 watts or smaller sized ones that generate 700-1000 watts on average. The size of the turbine’s rotor and average wind speed will have an effect on how much power you would be able to produce.

What are the Alternatives that those Skilled Experts Suggest?

Most wind turbine pros will suggest that take it easy when starting out and then take off from there as you get more familiar with it. There is lots of manual work that is expected assembling a wind turbine at home. You can start small and use your first project to provide power to another building such as a garden shed. If your pilot project thrives, you could then consider building a turbine that is more complex that can power up a larger space.

You Certainly Do Not Have to Be a Specialist

Wind turbine construction will involve the use of a few basic tools, including a metal cutter. In addition you should have a little familiarity with electrical wiring and components. Most plans related to wind power will come with explicit instructions and diagrams. When in doubt, go ahead and get the opinion of a specialist when you get to the intricate parts of the project.

5 Ways to Improve Your Marketing for the New Year

October 21st, 2010

The backdrop for your marketing in 2009 is what happened in 2008. I have an interesting perspective as a marketing consultant who works with small businesses. My clients compete in a diverse group of industries, from software and law to construction and technology. Some are feeling the full force of the economy, others had their best year ever in 2008. I’ve competed in just about every conceivable market condition.

Boiled down to the simplest terms I can manage, here is what I learned-

Sell to people for the reasons they are buying. Your customers are likely buying what you sell for different reasons today than they were 18 months ago. Understand how your customers’ reasons for buying have changed and adapt your message accordingly. What’s important to your customers NOW? Talk about that!

Sell to the people who are buying. We work with a swimming pool remodeling contractor. We focused all our marketing on the residential market. Yet, every year, one or two commercial customers (resort, college, city) would call and ask if they remodeled commercial pools. About a year ago we started going after the commercial market and thank goodness we did. Their residential business has slowed as people are slower to remodel their pools during down times. But commercial customers can’t afford to put off their projects, and that business has been critical to the client.

Said another way, quit beating your head against a wall. Stop trying to sell to people who aren’t buying. What type of customer do you have that maybe you haven’t focused on, but who is buying right now? You may need to change your brochures and website to speak directly to this different type of customer, but that’s a small price to pay to go after customers who are buying.

Sell the way people are buying. I’m advising a solid company in the heart of the rust belt. They reached out because things are drastically changing around them. Their average sale has gone from $60,000 to $10,000, current customers aren’t buying and they’ve identified they must take their business national after being built from the ground up to be a local, face-to-face type company. They blame the internet. I said embrace it, sell the way people are buying. When at one time selling to someone you’d never sat across the desk from seemed impossible, now, the net—phone contact—a sample in the mail—closing the sale on the phone is their customers’ preferred way of buying what the client sells.

Let go of your sacred cows. This relates to everything I’m saying here. When things change open yourself up to changing: who you sell to, how you sell, your message, what you sell, etc. We work with a landscape contractor who built a solid business selling to people retiring into upscale gated communities. In other words, new construction. Well, that business has vanished. Really. It hasn’t dropped 40% or 50%; it has freaking vanished! We have been scrambling to focus on the remodel market and replace a super-premium quality message with a more value-oriented message. His salespeople, however, has resisted the change. They still want to design and sell a $60,000 masterpiece front yard — their sacred cow — instead of the $15,000 remodel people are wanting now. Do so at your own peril.

Simplify. Every time we simplify a website or a brochure or a mailing, sales go up. My site is a perfect example. We built a site four years ago to be a portal. From watching visitor behavior via Google Analytics I trimmed everything back except the most popular pages. Literally within 24 hours of posting the new site inquiries went up. All the content I assumed added value to the site also added complexity; and suppressed response.

Accessories For Your Landscape Project

October 21st, 2010

If you plan your new garden design well you should end up with a stunning result. Bring in some carefully selected accessories to give your scheme the professional touch.

Designing Your Outdoor Space

There is not set way to go about designing a landscape: how you draft your plans depends on what your dream landscape design is about. You don’t need to be a design specialist to pull it off successfully, you just need to free your creative juices and follow your instincts.

Some guidelines to get you started
By taking the time to think about what you want to achieve and plan for it, you too can achieve a stunning result. The first thing to remember is that successful designs start with well conceived plans: put your design and layout ideas on paper before you start work in earnest could save you a lot of hassle and problems further down the line.

Harmonize for success
Whether you are looking at a new scheme for the front of the house or out back it is essential that the planting scheme is well coordinated: you want to avoid devaluing your new design with a mismatched assortment of plants and shrubs.

Pick a feature
A focal point is key to a successful design: whether you chose something amazing or fairly basic you need an element that will draw the eye and command attention. This will give your backyard a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

Functionality for enjoyment
It may seem superfluous but you may want to ensure that your backyard remains fully accessible: it is not enough to design a stunning garden if you forget to plan for ways to enjoy it. Whether you are looking to create the perfect space for outdoors entertaining or a relaxing retreat you should make sure your design takes this into account, as the landscaping will be affected by how you intend to use the space.

Relax with water
The addition of a water feature can be both very relaxing and add a commanding presence to your design. There are many options available, from ponds to small water fountains, and plenty of advice around to help you decide which option best suits your circumstances.

Where to get inspiration
When shopping for ideas there are plenty of places to look. Whether you are looking for accessories or inspiration for the entire scheme you can browse online, check out books and magazines or even take a drive in the area to check out what your neighbors have come up with: this can be a great starting point to find ideas to adapt to your own garden.

The final thing to keep in mind is that when you are planning your own design you should make sure you do not rush: the more time you give yourself in the planning phase the more likely you will end up with a backyard you can both enjoy and be proud of.

Landscaping With Water

October 21st, 2010

Water features, and most specifically ponds, can add a great focal point to your backyard. By following a few pointers you too can build a beautiful pond to enhance your garden.

Adding A Pond In Your Backyard
Ponds are a fun landscaping element that makes a great hobby for people of all generations. They can be a stunning feature in almost any size plot, whether on a grand scale or mini size. They are relatively easy to put in and you can add aquatic planting and fish for water feature that will be both relaxing and impressive.

Making Plans For A Pond
It is fairly easy to build your own pond but if you prefer it is possible to buy ready-made kits that come complete with all the elements you’re likely to need to complete the project. Before you start breaking ground with your spade there are a few key factors to keep in mind: the first thing to do before you start digging is picking the right spot. You want to find an area that gets good light exposure, say about four to six hours a day, as it will widen your choice of suitable plants. Most aquatic plants need decent sun exposure in order to thrive. You also want to ensure you’re not picking a spot too close from trees that shed their leaves in the fall, or where the water could be in close proximity of electric installations.

A Room With A View
If you select a spot that is clearly visible from inside your home you can enjoy your new pond on days where the weather does not allow you to take full advantage of your garden.

Choosing A Shape
Your pond can take virtually any shape that you wish – whether geometric or more natural looking. It really depends on your likes and dislikes as well as the rest of your garden design. Geometric shapes tend to suit a more formal setting while curvy ponds are more casual.

Decorating Touches
Once the pond is installed you start contemplating your options with regards to decorating around it. You can choose a variety of materials for this purpose, from rocks to brickwork, or go for a natural look by using flowers to line the pond. Again the only restriction is your imagination and how you want the water feature to look.

Aquatic Plants And Fish
You can really transform your new garden feature into a beautiful and calming oasis by adding a few aquatic plants and fish. Be careful not to overdo it as both plants and fish need enough space to thrive.

Adding a pond to your back garden can seem daunting but if you take the time to plan the project carefully it will reward you with a stunning feature to enjoy for years to come.

Food Planning During Pregnancy – Excellent ideas To Organize Meals

October 15th, 2010

Knowing how food works in our system is a good way to start the planning your meals. Being aware about your nutritional deficiencies can turn around our health in preparation for the challenges of being with child up until giving birth.

As the first stages of pregnancy begins, you will find yourself feeling squeamish all the time. It will be best to know what you’re up against. Going into this battle without any armor of protection is senseless. There are always weakness in every opponent. Morning sickness and vomiting throughout the day can be defeated by simply having small snack. Munching on crackers will help settle down the stomach, keep a pack or two in your purse. This will be the best plan to keep you away from the toilet.

When you go on to buy groceries, it is nice to bring a list of craving that you’re encountering once in a while. This will make it uncomplicated for you and your husband when a craving arises in the middle of the night. It can help your sanity intact and harmony at home. Another reason for the list is knowing how much your budget can handle. While you are writing it down you will more or less have an awareness of how much you can shed out of your saving to indulge yourself in your carvings. Planning it will serve as a reality check that can minimize the hole in your budget.

Making a well balanced diet meal plan when you body is screaming to satisfy all your cravings can control your weight gain. This can be a good way of mastering your indulgence to a minimal. Small portion of your cravings may help to satisfy all of them. When planning your meals find variety in your meals. Example, if you think you are just desperate to have chocolates, the body is probably looking for dairy products and fruits. Both have the same characteristics as chocolate, milk and sweetness. They are more healthy alternatives than what chocolate can offer. This can be achieved when you’re aware of what you want as to what you really need.

Being forgetful about a lot of things is a tendency that pregnant women have. It is taxing to have a mental state like this. Things just seem to escape your memory in times when you need them the most. Making meal plans will somehow become a helping hand for you. Start from the grocery then it will follow though with in your meals.

In every stages of your pregnancy you will be engaged in different needs that your body requires. That also entails, the need for constant adjustments in your meal plans. Thus, your first trimester is different to the second leg and form the third. For the most parts, these changes are due to the development of your unborn.

As the pregnancy will progress, the more nutrition you’ll need. Calcium, sodium, vitamins and minerals are increasing. To help fill these needs, consult your doctor for medicinal supplements.

Part of planning is constant awareness of the food that you cook. The best ingredients to make your meal very healthy. Fresh vegetables and are high-quality meats are ideal for baby. Groceries can offer you a wide variety of selection. Make sure to check for warnings of pesticides. This can be harmful to your health.

The most important factor to consider when planning is that it’s not really the planning that counts. Rather, it’s the conscious effort to make the best choices around you.

RLLD Commercial Lighting provides all adjunct consultation services to clients on a complimentary basis and charges a small, reasonable fee for contractors seeking paid consulting services on an as need basis. There is a fee for every photometric design analysis, but for contractors who buy commercial lighting products from RLLD Commercial, the amount of the fee is subtracted from the purchase order.
